Are you running, or have recently run a Spotify Conversion Campaign with Rise, and want to better understand the results and how it’s positively impacting your music on Spotify?
We also encourage you to read our detailed explainer of how Rise Conversion campaigns work: https://rise.la/guides/spotify-conversion-campaigns/
But let’s start with what a Spotify Conversion campaign delivers:
- Get your music discovered and heard by brand new listeners
- Increase real Spotify followers
- Get those followers to save or pre-save a song
- Double opt-in to pre-save all future releases*
- Free submission to our Tout Playlist curators for potential bonus placement
*You must create a new Rise Conversion campaign for each subsequent release to unlock your pre-save bank.
A Rise Conversion campaign is a great way to attain all of these harder to achieve goals, and create a positive algorithmic impact for your music.
What’s happening during my Conversion Campaign?
The first step is introducing your music to people who are most likely to engage with it. We do this through our subsidiary company, and our music discovery app, Tout.
On Tout, listeners are served a clip of your preview track, and decide if they like it or not. If they do like your song, we ask them to follow you. When they agree to follow we also ask them to give Tout/Rise permission to take actions on their behalf in the future.
Once they agree to follow you, we can earn two more actions — they simultaneously save your preview track, and opt-in to pre-save future releases promoted with a Rise Conversion campaign.
Additionally, your preview track has likely been added to our Tout Playlist Network.
Reading your results in your Dashboard
First, from your dashboard, simply click VIEW next to the campaign you want to look at.
Note for customers with subscription campaigns, all results from the duration of the subscription will be compiled cumulatively in the original campaign order. The original order will include the status (Live, Processing, or Completed), and will always include Platform (Spotify), and Optimize For (in this case, Conversions).
Once you click VIEW, you will see your Campaign Details:
Under Campaign Details, you can confirm all pertinent details of your campaign.
Campaign Name: This is not listener-facing, so aside from your own record keeping, there’s no need to stress the name, or even any typos that may have been incorrectly entered when the campaign was created.
Platform: This identifies the platform your campaign is designed to perform on, i.e. Spotify (or YouTube, Instagram, etc. for other campaigns).
Frequency: This will either read single, for Single campaigns, or Subscription, for on-going campaigns.
Date Created: This is the date the campaign was created. For subscription campaigns, this is also the date the campaign will renew and on which you will be charged for the next month of promotion. Note this is the renewal date for subscriptions, even if you scheduled your campaign to start on a later date.
Start Priority: This field will indicate whether you scheduled to start the campaign ASAP, or on a specific date. Please note the date format is MM/DD/YYYY.
Optimize For: For Spotify campaigns this will be either Conversions, Exposure or Active Listeners.
Artist Name: This is the name of the artist being promoted with this campaign. This can be helpful for managers, agencies and labels who run campaigns for multiple artists.
Artists Profile Link: Again, this is the Spotify Artist Profile link being promoted with this specific campaign.
Song Link: This is the song being promoted for this campaign. For conversion campaigns set up for pre-saves, this is the song that we’re using to drive new followers and pre-saves for the upcoming release.
For Subscriptions campaigns this field will change as you update your campaign.
Estimated Followers: This is the minimum number of new followers you’ll earn from your Rise Conversion campaign. This number will not include any estimation of organic or additional growth, just the followers Rise will deliver.
Upcoming Release Date: If you’re campaign is optimized for pre-saves, this is the date we have on record to execute those pre-saves. This date will not change unless you’ve updated the release date from your dashboard.
Upcoming Song Name: This is the title of the track we will be executing pre-saves on when it is released,
Playlist Submission: This is the Tout Playlist you asked to be considered for. Keep in mind our playlists are curated more by mood and vibe, rather than by specific genres. We understand many artists and songs don’t fit neatly into a specific genre.
Next, let’s look at the Campaign Report Section.
Campaign Report
Date Live: The date your campaign started promoting your music. Not to be confused with the date your campaign was created.
Last Release Received On: The release date scheduled for your pre-save campaign. If this is not current, you can update your release date directly from your dashboard.
New Spotify Followers: This is the number of new Spotify followers you’ve gained from your current campaign. This number updates every 24 hours, in real time. Meanwhile Spotify For Artists is 24-hours behind real time, so there may be a delay in seeing these results reflected in your Spotify For Artists analytics.
New Spotify Pre-Saves: This is the number of song saves you’ve gained from your current campaign. This number updates every 24 hours, in real time. Meanwhile Spotify For Artists is 24-hours behind real time, so there may be a delay in seeing these results reflected in your Spotify For Artists analytics.
Total Rise Fans: This is the cumulative number of Spotify Followers you’ve acquired over all of your Rise Conversion campaigns. We call them Rise Fans because in addition to following you, they have saved your song, and are opted-in to pre-save all future releases promoted with a Rise Conversion campaign.
Start Spotify Followers: Rise connects directly with Spotify’s API, so we record your current follower count from the moment your Conversion campaign goes live. This ensures we reach our goals in terms of new followers.
Tout Discovery Link: This link will direct you to your place in our Conversion flow. You can see exactly what potential new fans see when previewing your song.
Playlist Link: This field tracks the Tout Playlists our curators added your music to. In some cases your song may fit multiple playlists, and in some rare instances, your music may not be a good fit. This is a bonus we try to provide artists so they can earn some additional exposure and see some authentic streams from a first-party owned and operated playlist.
Looking at corollary benefits of your Conversion campaign
Remember: the core benefits of your Conversion campaign are:
- New Spotify Followers
- New Song Saves
- Opt-ins for future pre-saves
To see how many song saves you’ve earned, as well as other corollary analytics, just log into your Spotify For Artists account. From the MUSIC tab in your Spotify For Artists profile, click over to RELEASES, and you can see the song saves your Rise Conversion campaign has delivered. You have four filtering options, and depending on the duration of your campaign, you may want to toggle between different time frames: 7 Days, 28 Days, 12 Months, or All-Time. Note: when you filter for All-Time you won’t be able to see the total number of saves, but you can see the historical streams of your releases.
Next, you can track your follower growth, AKA Rise Fans, by clicking on AUDIENCE:
In addition to seeing the direct increase in your Spotify Followers and song saves from your Rise Fans, you can also check to see any additional bonus streams you received via our Tout Playlist Network.
From your Spotify For Artists home page, click on MUSIC:
Then, click on PLAYLISTS. Starting at the top of the page, you’ll see Spotify’s ALGORITHMIC playlists. Here you can track and sort your algorithmic performance. It’s very common for artists to see an increase in their algorithmic traction as a result of consistent use of Rise Conversion and Exposure campaigns. Again, this data can be sorted by the same time frames as above: last 28 days, Last 7 Days, the Last 12 Months, or you can select a Custom range.
While Rise can’t guarantee algorithmic success, running Spotify Conversion and Exposure campaigns together increases your chances of landing on Release Radar, Discover Weekly, etc.
Next, if you continue to scroll down, you will see EDITORIAL Playlists (if applicable), and then LISTENER Playlists. Note: Rise does not currently offer a campaign designed to earn editorial placements, but building a robust and authentic audience through a well-rounded marketing strategy is a great first step.
Look for our Tout branded playlists to see what songs were added, and sort by your preferred time frame (Last 7 Days, Last 28 Days, etc.) to see how many bonus streams you earned from Tout. You can expand your filtering option to see beyond the top-5 listener playlists. For many of our artists, our Tout Playlist Network has proven to be their biggest and best source of authentic streams.
Now that you’ve seen the direct results of your Rise Conversion campaign, you can read more about how using your Spotify For Artists analytics you can check out this helpful article from Spotify: https://artists.spotify.com/en/blog/how-to-read-your-spotify-for-artists-data
From the Audience tab you can again filter for your preferred time frame, and look at the follower chart to see how your Spotify followers have increased over the course of your Rise campaign. You can also filter to see how it compares to other marketing campaigns, or your organic growth.
